Three Waters Foundation (TWF) is a non-profit dedicated to marine debris cleanup in Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, and the North Channel. Our mission focuses on removing anthropogenic debris from remote islands and exposed coastlines, where plastic, foam, and other contaminants accumulate, threatening local ecosystems—especially nesting birds and spawning areas used by native fish, reptiles, and amphibians. We raise awareness of the impacts of anthropogenic contamination through cleanup efforts, research expeditions, partnerships, art, and community engagement, all aimed at enhancing ocean protection.
TWF represents a journey toward solutions for safeguarding our water, integrating the Indigenous Way of Knowing with Western scientific analysis.
We acknowledge the Chippewas of Kettle and Stoney Point, Nayaashiinigmiing and Saugeen (collectively known as Saugeen Ojibway Nation); the Beausoleil, Moose Deer Point, Wasauksing, Shawanaga, Magnetawan, Henvey Inlet, Whitefish River, Sagamok Anishinabek, Serpent River, Wikwemikong, Sheguindah, Aundek Omni Kaning, M’Chigeeng, Sheshegwaning, Zhiibaahasiing, Thessalon, and Garden River First Nations; the Métis communities within the Lake Huron region; and the Bay Mills Indian Community, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. TWF is committed to learning and reconciliation while fulfilling our shared responsibility to protect and care for Gichi-Aazhoogami-Gichigami—the 'Crosswater Seas.'
For the love of the Lake.
